Layne is the top budget-friendly hotel in SF. It’s spotless and cozy, and run by the same family for years. The central location is superb, just a short walk from Union Square and BART. Among all the hotels I've stayed in SF, Layne remains my favorite.
No complaints at all - the hotel was tidy, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the room was pleasant. I didn't hear any noise from other guests, and the shared restroom and shower were kept clean daily. Given the price, it was a bargain and I would definitely stay again.

Felt very at home at this family-run hotel in an old SF building. The staff were exceptionally nice and I had everything needed for my 8-night stay. Nothing can be done about the central SF issues, especially in the Tenderloin district, and the old building has its quirks, but for the price and with the friendly staff, I was more than satisfied and would gladly return.
Great location. Although there are many homeless people around, making it necessary to be cautious while walking, the hotel owners provide excellent tips.

Clean, safe, and comfortable - an excellent value for San Francisco! If you’re looking for a budget-friendly place to stay, the Layne Hotel is an excellent option. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Sharing a bathroom and shower wasn't an issue for me. Having a sink in the room was convenient. Additionally, there's a TV, microwave, and small refrigerator in the room.
Layne Hotel is an excellent option for staying in San Francisco. Ideally located just 15 minutes from the Moscone and 5 minutes from Union Square, Ryan offers exceptional customer service and is always attentive to our needs. I will definitely return.
